Every September, Festival musicians take time out of their rehearsal and performance schedule to go to schools and educational centers to conduct free, interactive musical outreach programs for children in elementary school through high school, throughout the city of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, as well as in surrounding counties. Every year we continue to seek opportunities to expand access to these resources for young children with a desire to learn about classical music. Our educational outreach programs are generously underwritten by the Maurice Amado Foundation.

It is the goal of the Virginia Chamber Music Foundation to develop and foster the development of musical knowledge not only for our guest musicians but also the broader community alike. As such, the Foundation endeavors to make it possible for any young person in our community to attend our concerts, and has often provided free tickets to certain schools, classes, and other groups in the community. Such groups have included the American Youth Harp Ensemble from Richmond, VA (2010), Youth Orchestra of Central Vriginia Flute Ensemble (2012) and a University of Virginia English class (2012).

While here for the Festival, several of our visiting musicians also conduct master classes, and other free, or low-cost events for the community. The Festival also donates free tickets to ParadeRest, an organization that helps our community to welcome home and express their gratitude in meaningful ways to local military personnel, veterans, and their families through tickets to entertainment, arts and sports events.

If you or your company would like to help us present free music education programs to youth in Central Virginia, please contact us to talk more about how you can help sponsor these events.
